National Apprenticeship week 2021

It’s National Apprenticeship week 2021!

Every year we take the time to reflect on how the apprentices at ABL have shaped the team.

Half the team have started their journey at ABL being apprentices, and have then stayed on once they completed their apprenticeship. We are really grateful to be able to take on apprentices at ABL and then continue to support their career journey once the apprenticeship has ended.

Our past apprentices have been looking back on their experiences and have shared why they decided to do an apprenticeship and how it helped them.

Luke Rodgers, one of our Senior Financial Consultants said: "Best thing I ever did, on the job experience beats any text book only course at university for me, you get job security and learn how to do the job as opposed to reading about how to do it, after uni or college you may get the opportunity at the same business however after the 2 years of an apprenticeship you will know much more about how the business works and the industry you are in than the college or after the 6 years ish that a uni grad will."

Our marketing Manager Emma Duff said:  “I never thought about doing apprenticeship until Andy and Alex asked if I wanted to come on full time at ABL and do an apprenticeship in Marketing. At the time I’d just left university half way through my first year and wasn’t sure that I was going to do instead, taking on an apprenticeship seem like a smart idea. I’m really glad I did it now as it’s helped me to grow within the business. I was able to put in to practice what I was learning. Apprenticeships allow you to learn, earn and get great on the job experience.”

Chloe English, who has successfully completed her apprenticeship this year and is now a Finance Consultant on her career path within the business. She now works independently on all sub £250k lends. Talking about choosing an apprenticeship Chloe said "I wish I would have done this sooner. If anyone was to ask me, would you rather go to college or do an apprenticeship, I would 1000% say apprenticeship"

Joint Managing Director Alex Beardsley commented "We are committed to working with Young People and giving them a foundation with which to build upon from a career perspective.

With career paths from Finance to Marketing and Customer Service our apprentices get fully involved in the day to day and strategic aspects of the business...they are an integral part of our team and of our growth plans.

Any young people that have a thirst for knowledge and want to be involved in a fast growing team that supports their individual growth should get in touch.

As well as the apprenticeship and on-the-job training we are committed to continuous professional development for our team. With annual training plans linked directly to career aspirations, this is definitely a good way to attract and nurture talent within the business. The first step on the run is through an apprenticeship."

We love having apprentices at ABL and are always looking for the next one to join the team. We are currently looking for another Trainee Finance Consultant as an apprentice and actively recruiting for this role.

Could you be the next apprentice at ABL? We'd love to hear from you, send us an email or give us a call.
