Meet Emma Duff, ABL’s Marketing Manager

There is plenty going on here at ABL HQ, and we’re particularly proud of the team behind the scenes that continues to drive the organisation forwards. Some people have been here for years, and others a few short months, but each one deserves their moment in the spotlight.

Today, we’re getting to know our marketing manager,, Emma Duff and finding out a little more about her role, what she loves most about it, and why she thinks that ABL is a great place to work.

Emma’s role at ABL

Summarise your role in one paragraph:
I’ve been with ABL from the very beginning and since then my role has evolved with the business. I’m the marketing manager, so my top responsibility is making sure that people are aware of ABL, including what we offer and how we can help their business.

I’m also receiving further training on our amazing systems, such as Zoho CRM, so that I can suggest and implement new processes and make sure it’s working in a way that support the team’s needs. However, when anyone asks, I say I ‘make pretty pictures’ because that’s the fun part!

What’s the best part of your job?
Being able to use my creative skillset day to day is a massive plus for me in this role. I also love that no two days are the same, so I never get bored and I continue to be challenged.

How do you think ABL differentiates itself from its competitors?
For me, one of the most important factors is that we are human, and we don’t pretend to be something we are not. We are honest, genuine, and straight-talking at ABL. We only speak the truth to our clients and I think a lot of people appreciate this.

As a team, we don’t try and compete with each other, instead we work together and help one another. This allows us to always put the customer at the heart of everything we do.

What is the one thing that you’d want your colleagues to know you for?
I would want the ABL team to know that I always get the job done and they can always rely on me to carry out my role to the best of my ability.

What three words do you think best describe ABL?
Knowledgeable, approachable, real.

A little more about Emma:

What did you want to be when you were growing up?
When I was little my dream job was to work on the tills at Tesco because I thought it looked like fun and I loved playing ‘shops’. As I got older, I wanted to be an actor and that’s why I studied performing arts at college.

What’s the first thing you do when you get home on a Friday evening?
I’m very lucky to finish at 12pm on Fridays, as ABL understands the need for a good work-life balance. Last year, my brother had his first child, so my mum looks after her while my brother and his partner are at work. As such, I get to spend Friday afternoons enjoying some quality time with my niece, who I absolutely adore.

How do you switch off while away from your desk?
I like to keep my brain busy by reading books or binge-watching TV. I also love to bake but I’m too impatient to decorate anything I make. Therefore, although my kitchen creations never look pretty, they always taste great.

Where is the best place in the UK for a two-day getaway?
The seaside! We have so much beautiful coastline in the UK. Scarborough is favourite of mine, it has the perfect mix of beach, country, and city so there is something for everyone.

If we were to spend a day box set binging, what series would you recommend we watch?
I love binging box sets. If you’re looking for something a little light-hearted, I would recommend Schitts Creek. On the other hand, if you were in the mood for a drama with a lot of seasons, I would recommend either Greys Anatomy or Bones. Although, you can also never go wrong with a classic such as Friends.
